The City of Port Isabel is hosting a ground breaking ceremony for its new City of Port Isabel Visitor & Events Center and Emergency Operations Center at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The site of the future event center is at 309 Railroad Ave. across from the Port Isabel Historical Museum.

According to city officials, the city was successful in obtaining a $4 million low interest loan from the USDA Rural Development, “allowing for the new building of a visitor and event center and the emergency operations center.”
