The Port Isabel Tarpons started their two-a-day practices this Monday.
Head Coach Monty Stumbaugh said his team is excited for the start of their season. He said 80 players made it to the first day of practice and the coaching staff is expecting good things from them this year.
Friday is the first day of full contact, Stumbaugh said, and the first scrimmage against Brownsville Pace is scheduled for August 18.
Stumbaugh said the goals for the team have been set. He said the team is determined to be the district champions getting them back to the playoffs then play games all the way into the month of December.
