ElectionsThe race for Cameron County Constable Precinct 1 is not over.

A recount of the votes is scheduled for Tuesday, November 26, at the Cameron County Elections Office. The recount should take no longer than a few hours to complete.

Incumbent Horacio Zamora said he has never been in a recount scenario before. He said the recount should not deviate far from the original count.

“It is an interesting situation, all I can do is hope it continues to go my way,” Zamora said.

The totals in the original count were 2504 to 2501 with Constable Zamora ahead of challenger Pete Delgadillo. The votes have been canvassed with Zamora as the winner. Cameron County Judge Carlos Cascos will announce the winner to the public.
