Sea Turtle Inc. recognized

Special to the PRESS

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife recently presented a plaque to Sea Turtle Inc. to thank them for their hard work, dedication, and celebration of the 10 year partnership.

Since 2002, Sea Turtle Inc. and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service have been conservation partners in protecting endangered and threatened sea turtles in the Gulf of Mexico. The partnership began with the major decline of the five sea turtle species that live in the Gulf of Mexico particularly the Kemp’s Ridley sea turtle. The year 2012 was a record breaking year with 72 sea turtle nests found on South Padre Island and Boca Chica Beaches.
