Holiday events still on tap

From holiday contests, parades and shows to popular stores with special events, Harlingen still has something to make everyone feel jolly.

Start by testing your holiday music IQ with Downtown Harlingen’s Name That Song contest, through December 28. Each of the 34 participating downtown businesses is displaying a poster in their store window with lines from a popular Christmas song. Entrants must correctly identify at least 15 Christmas songs to be entered into a drawing for gift certificates to Downtown Harlingen businesses. Votes will also be tallied for the Favorite Window Display contest. Entry forms are available at Downtown Harlingen businesses, the library, the Chamber of Commerce and online at and must be submitted by 5 p.m. December 28. Santa’s Wonderland at Bass Pro Shops

See the magic of Santa’s Wonderland at Harlingen’s Bass Pro Shops through December 24. Free daily games and activities at Santa’s Wonderland include:

• Photo with Santa

• Remote control truck track

• Target practice games

• Slot car racing

• Moving trains through a Christmas village

• Laser gun/soft gun arcade

• Kids’ crafts (e.g., ornaments, popsicle stick snowmen and cookie decorating)
