The Santa Ana and Lower Rio Grande Valley National Wildlife Refuges, located seven miles south of Alamo on FM 907 about a quarter mile east of Hwy. 281, are currently holding wildlife photography walks at 9 a.m. on Tuesdays. Also, butterfly walks are slated at 10 a.m. Wednesdays while weekly bird walks are scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Daily, at 9 a.m., 12 noon and 2 p.m., tram tours are offered for those who visit the NWR Visitor Center, where tickets should be purchased at least 20 minutes before departure. Nature walks are held at 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
