RRR pic2-3-21-13Sparacino’s Italian Café and Ice is South Padre Island’s newest taste of Italy, serving the finest paninis, pastries and Italian ice.

Proprietor John Sparacino said the café represents a lifelong dream of owning a restaurant and serving excellent quality food that is now a week into its fruition.

“I have been cooking for over 50 years for a very discerning crowd, my family. Now it’s your turn to experience some of those tastes,” Sparacino said.

Sparacino’s uses the finest quality food sources such as Boar’s Head and Breadsmith to make delicious never fried choices at the cafe. Sparacino said other specialty meats and cheeses are imported straight from Italy. Pastamore help produce tasty pestos by providing all natural olive oil, balsamic vinegars and spices.

Paninis are made for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sparacino said the sandwiches can be customized to suit customer’s cravings.

The SPI Shrimp Roll is Sparacino’s own take on the East Coast lobster roll made with gulf shrimp. Sparacino said he invites everyone to try and guess the secret ingredient.

Sparacino’s serves barista style espressos, cappuccinos and Mexican “Abuelitas” chocolates that can be enjoyed at the café that offers a charge-all network, that is able to recharge any device, and Sparacino’s is also is a Wi-Fi access point.

All the way from Pennsylvania is Via Veneto Italian Ice which is a non-dairy, fat free, cholesterol free and kosher product that is somewhere between Ice Cream and a Snow Cone in texture, but light-years ahead in taste. A scoop of Italian ice is served with every meal, sugar-free options are also available.

Sparacino’s will have a grand opening in April that will bring an expanded menu that will include more specialty sandwiches, vegan dishes, pastries as well as Padre Pastas for a fine dinner experience.

Sparacino’s is located at 1817 Padre Boulevard on South Padre Island. Their temporary hours are from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Customers that like Sparacino’s on Facebook can download a coupon for discounted food.
