Droves of volunteers took to the beach on Saturday to do their part in keeping South Padre Island’s beaches free of litter and safe for the public.
The Adopt-A-Beach organization, set up near County Beach Access No. 3, drew more than 150 participants. Armed with plastic garbage bags and dressed in matching purple shirts, the army of beautification activists marched down State Highway 100 searching for unwanted debris that lay scattered across the massive sand dunes.
