More than 5,000 Port Isabel residents were without power for parts or most of Friday, according to American Electric Power (AEP) officials.
Bruce Evans, AEP Texas Vice-President of Electric Distribution, said that physical damage to the electrical system was minimal but the inclement weather did cause a number of problems, like downed power lines – which were caused by high winds and fallen tree limbs.
