Peggy Lynn Thobe

PEG'S PHOTOS _Page_1 (2)Overnight last week on Tuesday, in a peaceful sleep, Peggy Lynn Thobe went to be with her LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST. Over the last 30 years she had nurtured hundreds of elementary students as the music teacher at Derry Elementary School in Port Isabel, Texas. For all of those many years she devoted herself to a Christian Music Ministry at Island Baptist Church where she was a Charter Member and the pianist since 1984. During that time she was also the pianist at Chapel by the Sea for 20 years. She also played for many weddings and memorial services.
She never tired of being with the children whether as Director of the Children’s Choir at the Church or putting on Christmas programs for her choir at Derry. She received GREAT JOY from developing their music skills. She took great pride when she would see many of her former students in the TARPON BAND and school choirs. Her love of choral music led her to perform for many years with the SOUTH TEXAS CHORAL and most recently with the newly formed VALLEY VOICES CHORAL in the Laguna Madre area.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, John P. Thobe and two daughters (1993 and 1987 graduates of Port Isabel High School.) and three grandchildren, Tammy Rae Elliott, Thobe Elliott, Madisyn Elliott, of Austin, Texas and Paulette Lynn Eide and Kelly Eide of Moorhead, Minnesota, older Brother Ken McCutcheon, San Miguel, Mexico and Sister Pat Townsend, of Lowell, Ohio.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held Saturday May 3rd at 11:30 a.m. at Island Baptist Church. There will be a viewing Friday evening from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and 9:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service at Island Baptist Church. There will be a brunch for all of the attendees to visit with Peggy’s Family following the Service. There will be no grave side service following the MEMORIAL SERVICE
The dress code will be ISLAND CASUAL! In lieu of flowers the Family requests donations to “ISLAND BAPTIST CHURCH ‘PEGGY THOBE CHILDRENS MUSIC MINERISTRY’”, PO BOX 2131, South Padre Island, Tx. 78597.

My sympathy goes to John and their family, may you find comfort in knowing she is with her Savior. She was such a beautiful person inside and out.
