The Port Isabel Tarpons football team found themselves in a hard battle against Rio Grande City  Friday night. They trailed 7-0 and 13-7 before managing a 20-13 halftime lead, then outscored the Rattlers 16-13 in the second half to take the win and improve to 2-0 on the season.

The visiting Rattlers had little rushing game. The Tarpons held them to 12 net yards on the ground – but they managed to do considerable damage to Port Isabel’s defense with their passing attack. RGC quarterback Jason Gorena completed 27 passes for 276 yards and two touchdowns.
