The lower Laguna Madre area is reaching a turning point as the face of the standard tourist is beginning to evolve. With the area soon having to make adjustments to younger generations visiting, while accommodating the travel decline of baby boomers, a tourism assessment team came down from Austin in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce to evaluate the perks of visitation and strategize for the city’s marketing future.

“The typical traveler today is much more informed before making travel decisions with the influences of social media and other factors,” said Andria Godfrey, a tourism research coordinator visiting the area for assessment. She complimented the costal destination for having so much to offer.”There really is a lot to like about this area and a lot of reasons for people to come.”
