David hired as new LV police chief

LV2 (640 px)Anthony Alan David has been named to serve as the new police chief in the Town of Laguna Vista.

A retired Texas Ranger, David will begin working here on Nov. 17, according to City Manager Rolando Vela.

He has 28 years of law enforcement experience and is currently employed as the chief investigator for the Willacy County Sheriff’s Department.

David replaces Robert McGinnis who resigned as police chief in September to accept another police chief’s job upstate. The new chief was selected from a field of some 50 candidates who submitted applications for the position here. Police officer Julio Olguin has been serving as interim chief since McGinnis’ departure.
