Tarpon logoThe Port Isabel High School Silver Tarpon Marching Band arrived home Tuesday afternoon after participating in the UIL State Marching Band Contest at San Antonio’s Alamodome on Monday.

The band was primed and ready to go after qualifying for the state contest by finishing as the fourth-ranked band at the area contest at Corpus Christi Calallen on Saturday, October 25th.  The goal was to qualify for Monday night’s finals in the Alamodome and better their previous best state finish of fourth, but it was not to be.

In order to advance to the finals the band had to place in the top ten of the nearly two dozen bands that marched in the preliminaries that day.  The Port Isabel band just missed as they finished 14th in prelims.
