The Port Isabel Lady Tarpons won their season-opening basketball game Tuesday night at home against Brownsville IDEA Academy, 47-39.
The Lady Tarpons took an early 5-2 lead but trailed 14-9 late in the first quarter. They went in front 23-21 early in the second quarter on a nice running lay-up by Laura Moctezuma and led the rest of the way.
Port Isabel led 15-14 at the end of a quarter of play, 36-25 at the half, and 40-33 at the start of the fourth quarter.
