The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has announced a combined scoping meeting for the three Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) companies currently undergoing the pre-filing process in hopes of constructing export terminals at the Port of Brownsville.
The meeting will take place from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Port Isabel Event and Cultural Center (PIECC) on Aug. 11. The public is invited to contribute comments about the proposed projects from Annova LNG, Texas LNG and Rio Grande LNG. Comments will be recorded by a stenographer and transcripts will be made available for viewing on FERC’s eLibrary, according to a notice released by FERC.
In advance of the meeting, the community group Save RGV from LNG, which opposes the construction of the terminals, has planned an informational meeting for Aug. 9. That meeting will be held at the Port Isabel Community Center from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
