Another Fish Fry in Paradise

Last Saturday turned out to be a beautiful one for the Port Isabel Rotary Club’s Annual Shrimp and Fish Fry. Schlitterbahn Beach Resort provided the perfect background for the lunchtime event on Feb. 5.

Rotary Member Sherman Lee directed traffic into the event in full clown fish regalia and volunteer Rotarians donned their traditional clown fish hats to serve up delicious plates of shrimp, fish, coleslaw and hushpuppies to hungry patrons.

A crowd of locals and visitors, including the much appreciated Winter Texan crowd for whom the event was originally created, enjoyed great seafood, lively vocals and karaoke with Angela Hackett, and frequent raffles offering a variety of wine or a round of golf for the lucky winners.

The event was slated to go on rain or shine, but the weather proved to be the kind of perfection that can only be felt on a cool February afternoon in paradise. Guests lounged on picnic tables in the warm sun and enjoyed a view of Schlitterbahn’s signature sandcastle.
