Early voting for the Texas Primary elections are underway. Voting began this Tuesday.

Voters will be casting ballots on who they would like to see on the presidential ballot in November’s General Election, as well as several more local races.

At the County level, the Commissioner’s Court seeks to fill the position of Cameron County Judge. Currently Pete Sepulveda, Jr. serves as County judge after being appointed to the office in the wake of Carlos Cascos’ appointment to Secretary of State. Sepulveda is not seeking election.

With current Pct. 4 County Commissioner Dan Sanchez running for County judge, his seat on the commission will be open, as well. Sanchez is joined in the hunt for the County judge’s seat by opponents Eddie Treviño, former mayor of Brownsville, and Elizabeth Garza. All three candidates are running as Democrats.
