Port Isabel’s varsity baseball squad dominated 11-3 against the Raymondville Bearkats last Friday night. The Tarpons kept hold of the Kats for the entirety of the game and finished strong with a seven run scoring explosion in the seventh inning.

Pre-game, Raymondville’s players had high hopes for the night, despite Port Isabel’s first-place district status. Not allowing the Tarpons’ unblemished district record to intimidate them, the Kats were confident leading into the game.

“We know that they’re on the top of the leader charts,” Raymondville senior pitcher Christopher “CJ” Cisneros said. “But we come out here and give 110 percent every time, and we’re going to give this game 110 percent.”

Just as the Bearkats were prepared to come out and play their best baseball, the Tarpons were too.

Port Isabel led off the game with a run in the first inning and earned two in the second, while not allowing Raymondville to score.
