Port Isabel High’s Franchesca Sandoval placed 9th at last weekend’s Women’s State Powerlifting Meet. The meet was held at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi on Saturday.
“She tied her personal best in the squat,” Port Isabel powerlifting coach Victor Rubalcaba said Monday. “She PR’d (personal record) in her dead lift and her total went up by 10 pounds.”
Sandoval’s best total lift entering the state meet was 835 pounds and she did 845 last Saturday. She tied her personal best in the squat lift with 365 pounds on her third attempt, got 150 pounds on her first attempt in the bench press, and established another personal record with 330 pounds on her second attempt in the dead lift. She missed with 170 pounds on her second and third attempts in the bench, and just missed at 370 pounds on her final attempt in the dead lift.
