Some runners are born with a natural talent for running. For other track athletes a strong competitive nature is their strength. And then there’s that consistency of performance that comes with the determination to always do one’s best.
Port Isabel High’s Natalie Garza has what may be considered the perfect combination of the above attributes. Garza, a sophomore, is currently running three events, the 400-meter dash and the 4×200 and 4×400-meter relays, for the Lady Tarpons track and field team. Her coach, Julie Breedlove, considers her one of the outstanding student athletes on the squad.
“She’s actually one of our kids that runs with a whole lot of heart and has got some talent behind her, and that really is, sometimes, an unbeatable combination.”
