A week after he went missing on South Padre Island, the body of Justin Kirby Walker, 18, was positively identified in Matamoros, Mexico by his parents last week.

Walker was last seen at the Ultimate Music Experience (UME) concert at Schlitterbahn Beach Resort on Friday, March 18. He was reported missing the following day.

Authorities, led by the Cameron County Park Rangers, soon kicked off a search by land, air and sea. Volunteers helped comb the Island, while on social media, a Facebook page called “Justin Walker Rest in Peace” soon appeared, with users sharing information as it became available. Walker’s parents arrived in the Valley to aid in the search for their son, but by last Wednesday the search had been called off in the wake of information released by Mexican authorities.
