The Port Isabel summer track program is up and running.  The Press found boys’ coach Wen Moore at the high school athletic offices this week, and he talked about the program and the upcoming schedule of meets.

“Our summer track program is a two-week program,” Moore said Monday.  “It’s basically a runners’ camp and we invite all the kids from elementaries all the way up to high school.  We’ve got about 60 kids this year.”

High school summer track in Texas is conducted under the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation, which was founded in 1925 and maintains offices in Georgetown, Texas.

The first meet of the summer season is on for this Friday (24th) at Weslaco’s Bobby Lackey Stadium.
