A Purple Heart Monument, commemorating Purple Heart recipients, will be installed in time for Veterans Day ceremonies at Laguna Vista’s Veterans Memorial Park.

Amid discussion of the proposed addition to the park by Laguna Vista Town Council members Tuesday, Councilman Gary Meschi said that he and his wife, Janet, would like to donate the monument.

“There is no other place in the Valley that has this memorial,” City Manager Rolando Vela told the Council. “It will take three to four months to make…and if approved, would be unveiled at the Veterans Day ceremony on Nov. 11 with new Purple Heart Trail signage on FM 510,” he said.
