Special to the PRESS
The 2016 season got underway last Friday night in Brownsville’s Sams Memorial Stadium. The Port Isabel Tarpons came to town to challenge the Lopez High Lobos to 60 minutes of hard-knock football.
The two teams remained focused on victory during the hard fought defensive game that went in to overtime. The Tarpons came out on top.15-14 when Coach Stumbaugh made the decision to go for two points and win the game.
The Tarpons played well as a Team showing much drive and motivation. They never gave up even when behind 14-7 with only a couple of minutes left in overtime.
Congratulations to Coach Stumbaugh and his entire staff, which includes Tarya Mitchell, head trainer and her student trainers.
