Beach Boulevard improvements approved

Laguna Vista residents on Beach Boulevard will see improvements to their street in the near future.

Officials here approved almost $300,000 in upgrades after agreeing to incorporate the project into the pending Orange Street repairs.

By combining the two streets into one bid package, the Town could save 20 to 30 percent in costs, City Manager Rolando Vela told Councilmembers last week. Orange Lane improvements are estimated at $235,000, which will come from a Texas Department of Agriculture grant.

Orange Lane funds will come from a federal grant, due to its qualification as a low to moderate income neighborhood. However, Beach Boulevard, does not fall into that category due to a higher income designation of residents in that area.
