The Raymondville Bearkats defeated the Port Isabel Tarpons, 22-7, in the next-to-last district game of the season last Friday night in Raymondville.
Raymondville improves to 3-1 in District 16-4A Division II play, 8-1 overall. Port Isabel drops to 1-3 in district, 2-6 overall.
The Bearkats remain tied with Orange Grove for second place in the district standings and have clinched a playoff spot.
Port Isabel is tied with Corpus Christi -West Oso for fourth place and would make the playoffs with a win over West Oso this Friday.
“I thought, defensively, we played well enough to win,” P.I. Head Coach Jaime Infante said this week.
