The 2017 contest season has ended for the Port Isabel High Silver Tarpon Marching Band and, as usual, the results could hardly have been better.

In three contests the band was awarded a 1st Division Superior rating all three times.  The Silver Tarpon Band competed in the Queen City Marching Festival in Mercedes on Oct. 7, and the Music on the Reservation Marching Festival in Donna on Oct. 14.  The final marching event of the year was the UIL Pigskin Marching Contest on Oct. 21.

In addition to the Division 1 ratings the band, as well as the percussion section, was chosen Best in Class 4A in the Queen City and Music on the Reservation contests.

The band started the year as one of the youngest bands that Scott Hartsfield, head director of bands for PIISD, has ever had at Port Isabel High.
