The Port Isabel High boys’ track and field team is coming together week by week, and was in action at last week’s Sams Relays in Brownsville.

Against mostly Class 5A and 6A competition Tarpon athletes made the finals in only one event.

“We’re still missing a few kids, with the basketball team still in the playoffs,” P.I. boys’ track and field coach Wen Moore said this week.

The best result of the day for the Tarpons came in the finals of the 4 x 100-meter sprint relay race.  The foursome of Brayan Medina, Shawn Shrewsbury, Travis Camacho and Adrian Niño came in 7th in that race with a time of 45.33 seconds.
