The 2018 Los Fresnos PRCA Rodeo and Stock show wrapped up this past weekend and it will go down as one of the best in the event’s 29 year history. The crowds packed the stands on all three days to see bull riding, trick riding and countless other rodeo attractions.

Sonia Lopez, a Los Fresnos native who attended Saturday’s event, noted it was by far the best one she had been to. “This is my third year coming here and it seems to get better every year,” said the 30-year-old. “Yes I would have to say this is one is the best yet.”

Over the weekend, more than 200 of the best bull riders in the country vied to qualify for the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas later this year.

“It’s pretty cool when they announce (the riders’) rankings at the start of the ride and you hear they are top-15 or top-20 in the world,” said Chris Torres, who is visiting the Rio Grande Valley from his hometown of San Antonio for a few weeks. “This is my first year and it is definitely something I would come to again.”
