Victor Worrell and the Charter Amendment won in Laguna Vista’s May 5 elections here.

Worrell, an incumbent on the Town Council, took 465 votes to challenger Abel Delgadillo’s 342 in the Town’s General Election for the Place 5 position, to win a three year term on the Town Council.

Two other incumbents were unopposed in the election and will also serve three year terms. They include Place 4 Councilman Rolando Gonzalez and Place 6 Councilwoman Nadine Smith.

The Special Election, called to consider a proposed amendment to the Town’s Home Rule Charter to spell out boundaries and uses of the Town’s marina, was approved with 634 votes for, and 158 votes against the measure.

A special meeting of the Town Council was conducted Tuesday to canvass vote totals and approve voter results. Worrell was administered the oath of office at that time.
