The Port Isabel Lady Tarpons basketball team defeated Weslaco East on the road Tuesday night, 52-32. It was their fourth straight win to start the season, and they are playing in the Valley View tournament this weekend.
“Anytime you can win on the road, that’s a big accomplishment for your program,” P.I. girls’ Head Coach Hannah Burleson told the PRESS Wednesday. “It says a lot for what the girls are doing, working hard and stuff.”
Last Friday the Lady Tarpons outscored IDEA Frontier Academy, 53-23, in Tarpon Gym.
“Our defense is gradually improving and with our defense comes better offense,” Burleson said. “We had some people step up that came off the bench.”
