Dozens of people gathered at the Hilton Garden Inn earlier this month for a morning of fashion, fun and fundraising. It was all part of an effort by the owners of local clothing store, Ship Shape, to raise money for charity.
“We wanted to do something that wasn’t being done all the time, something we could put our heart and soul in and make a difference,” said Liz Money, co-owner of Ship Shape, an Island clothing retail store. Money is a co-founder of Ship Shape’s Annual Fashion Show, which was held this year in early February at the Hilton Garden Inn on South Padre Island.
Now in its 21st year, the fundraiser generated $4,000 from community donations, which was then doubled by a matching donation from Ship Shape for a total of $8,000. All proceeds benefiting the Ronald McDonald House Charity (RMHC).
