SPI merges registration database with Avenu

Special to the PRESS

In an effort to ensure compliance with all local ordinances, the City of South Padre Island has merged its short-term rental registration database with Avenu.

This change will allow Agents/Owners to register for their short-term rental permit and remit their taxes all with the convenience of the same website.

This new database will also allow the public to view the Agent/Owner and a 24-hour phone number for all registered short-term rental properties in the City of South Padre Island.

“Our goal with this change is to facilitate the process of short-term property registration and tax remittance,” stated Angie Barrera, Hotel Occupancy Tax administrator.

“To avoid any confusion, Agents/Owners will now be able to register any new properties and renew their permits all through their existing account with Tax Online.”

All current information in the database will be transferred to the new Avenu database. To browse the short-term rental database, renew a permit, register a new property or remit monthly Hotel Occupancy Taxes please visit www.myspi.org/hottax.
