Mayor Patrick McNulty called the May 4, 2022 South Padre Island City Council Meeting to order promptly at 5:30 p.m. Present were council members Ken Medders, Jr., Joe Rico, Eva Jean Dalton and Kerry Schwartz.

Perhaps the most exciting news of the evening was to come in the form of agenda items very near the end of the meeting. Director of Operations Wendi Delgado explained that, in early 2020, the City of South Padre Island commissioned a study of employee compensation and benefits to be conducted by the prestigious Evergreen Solutions LLC of Tallahassee Florida.

The project had just begun when the Covid pandemic shut it down. The multifaceted study resumed in the summer of 2021, delving into every aspect of the city’s employee compensation and benefit program.

Delgado introduced Nancy Berkley of Evergreen who went on to explain that the research portion of the process not only compared the city’s current compensation program with multiple municipalities, throughout the Valley and the State, but also measured management and employee attitude and opinion regarding the elements of the current program.
