Audrey Lorissa Brown, a local artist in the Art Business Incubator’s residency program, will have her first solo exhibition art show at ABI on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 6-8 p.m.
Brown is a surrealist artist from Dallas who earned her Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts with a concentration in painting and drawing and a minor in Sociology from McNeese State University.
“Art is a natural gift that I was born with; as a child, as soon as I could pick up a pencil, I had tons of spiral notebooks and would draw people,” Brown said. “My mom put me in private art lessons, which was just part of me.”
Brown, who was accepted into ABI’s residency program a year ago, says that ABI altered her life in the most positive way.
“Because of this program, I have sustained within a year a very profitable business that I’ve created, and I can’t even explain how much this program has saved my life,” said Brown. “I can’t imagine where I’d be if they hadn’t selected me to be part of this program.”
Brown, who calls herself an “art dealer” because of her background in high-end sales in real estate and cosmetics, has the goal of making a huge career out of her art.
“I love the art of sales, and I am actually opening up my gallery on the Island this year,” Brown said.
