Cantu makes bid for reelection

Port Isabel native Martin C. Cantu announced his candidacy for reelection for City Commissioner, Place 3.
“I’m running on my record of delivering positive change for the residents of Port Isabel, and my plans for the future of our town,” the incumbent noted in a press release.

Cantu recounts his city involvement by explaining, “Over the past several years, we’ve succeeded in turning around the city’s financial performance, establishing a program for sustained, steady investment in public infrastructure and needed equipment, and improving the general quality of life.” He went on to add, “I’m running on my record of achievement and my plans for continued improvement of our community.”

Cantu highlighted his strong attributes, which he offered to Port Isabel citizens as his experience, dedication, good judgment, and honesty.

Contained in his prepared statement, Cantu noted, “Port Isabel and its people are in my heart. I’ve dedicated my life to serving the citizens of this town, and I strive each day to give back to this community,” he remarked, “I feel it’s the least I can do. As much as we have achieved these past few years, and as proud as I am of these achievements, my love for our community drives me to take on new challenges and find new ways to improve our city.”

Early voting commences on Apr. 22, 2024, at the Port Isabel City Hall on 305 E. Maxan St. and runs through Apr. 30, 2024. Election Day is May 4.
