Clayton’s announces Spring Break lineup

Clayton’s Beach Bar and Grill, the biggest beach bar in Texas, owned by Clayton Brashear, is annually a huge draw for spring breakers. This is no surprise taking into consideration the big-name stars Brashear and his team are able to book for live performances on South Padre Island each March. Clayton’s Beach Bar and Grill’s media team have recently announced several acclaimed artists that will be performing this upcoming March.

First up so far, on Saturday, March 15, Ice Spice, “New York’s Princess of Rap,” is slated to take the stage. Ice Spice is 24-year-old Isis Naija Gaston’s stage name. According to Genus, she was raised in the Bronx before beginning to rap in 2021. Soon after, she began rising to stardom with the internet virality Munch (Feelin’ U), released in August 2022. In two weeks, the track garnered 2.2-million YouTube views. Today, according to Genius, her discography includes 101 songs with Boys a Liar Pt 2 at number one, boasting 1.2 million views. However, she has only one studio album, Y2K!, released in July 2024. Following its release, Spice unveiled two more versions of the album, Y2K! (Bonus) in August, 2024, and Y2K!: I’m Just A Girl (Deluxe) in December 2024. She has collaborated with internationally famous artists Niki Minaj and Taylor Swift, even touring with the icons. According to Genius, her inspirations include other big-name female rappers including Saweetie and Cardi B, as well as the late Pop Smoke.

Thirty-three-year-old American DJ, DEORRO, is slated to take the stage at Clayton’s on Monday, March 17. According to Vogue, DEORRO, a Los Angeles native formerly known as TONIC, grew up in West Covina, and is “one
of the top upcoming producer/Djs in the music industry.” DEORRO rose to Soundcloud stardom in 2011, with over 20,000 followers and 1.5-million views. After beginning to DJ local gigs and house parties at the young age of 14, he
began producing tracks independently at 17. A “Soundcloud sensation,” according to Vogue, under his previous stage name, he sold out international events in Australia twice, attracting crowds who lavish in his unique style: a fusion
of Progressive and Electro Dutch music. He currently boasts over 1-million downloads. In 2012, he closed out the Good Life Festival on the main stage. Vogue described this performance as “outstanding” and “unforgettable,” and iterated on Deorro’s unique talent, calling him a “must-see act.”

Bossman Dlow will host his concert on Wednesday, March 19. The 25-year-old Port Salerno, Florida, native got his start in 2019, reports last.fm. According to Genius, Bossman Dlow, aka Devante McCreary, really began gaining traction in early 2024, with the release of his single and “breakout hit,” Get In With Me, which currently has over 20-million Spotify streams. After going viral on Tik Tok, it was the first song to land him on
the Billboard Hot 100, charting at number 68. The Trap artist currently has 5.8 million monthly listeners on Spotify and recently performed at the Rolling Loud Miami music festival last December.

 

Clayton’s, ushering in some state pride, will feature an exciting collaboration of Texas-born rappers BigXThaPlug and the returning That Mexican OT, on Friday, March 21.

BigXthaPlug, born as Xavier Landum on May 12, 1998, in Dallas, Texas, has been called an “emerging force in the rap scene,” by Spotify. His raw, unapologetic lyrics have garnered him over 17-million monthly listeners.
Uniquely blending Southern rap traditions and modern hip-hop, the Pleasant Grove native released his debut album Amar in February 2023, which included one of his most popular tracks, Texas. BigXthaPlug has amassed an impressive over two-billion Spotify streams, with Texas boasting 155-million.

 

ThatMexicanOt hails from Bay City, Texas, and Spotify calls him “one of the hottest rising rappers of the moment.” After breaking out in the summer of 2023 with his nationwide attention-grabbing track, Johnny Dang, featuring Paul Walker and DRODi, he continued to notch multiple Billboard 100 hits. The 25-year-old, Virgil René Gazca, has released 174 songs according to Genius. Sticking with the state-pride theme, “OT” stands for “Outta Texas,” and the half-Mexican, half-Texan rapper fully embraces his culture through lyrics illuminating Mexican heritage. “I’m Mexican to the bone,” stated Gazca in an interview with Culted.

 

At the time of writing, Claytons has slated G-Eazy to close out the week of concerts on Saturday, March 22. American rapper, record-producer and actor, G-Eazy, aka Gerald Earl Gillum, hails from Oakland California. He currently has 23.2-million monthly listeners on Spotify, and was deemed the “James Dean of Rap” when he, with his slick-back hair and leather jackets, debuted in the late 2000s. His hit duet with Bebe Rexha, Me, Myself & I, climbed the charts in the 2010s and currently has 1.4-billion streams on Spotify. A later collaboration with ex-girlfriend and major pop artist Halsey, Him & I, landed him much success again in 2017. It was included on his fifth studio album, The Beautiful and The Damned, along with No Limit, a multi-platinum track which climbed into the Top Five of the Hot 100 featuring A$AP Rocky and Cardi B.

Currently, Clayton’s is charging $20-40 a ticket for general admission, depending on the concert. Clayton’s also offers VIP admission. According to Clayton’s official website, these prices will increase as the concert dates approach.

General admission permits access to the open deck area of the venue, whereas VIP tickets offer a closer view at a section in front of the stage as well as a “private” bar and restrooms. To purchase tickets and for more information, visit claytonsbeachbar.com.
