Deadly golf cart crash investigated in South Padre Island

A Fort Worth woman lost her life in a tragic golf cart crash on South Padre Island, leading to criminal charges against a 60-year-old man, according to multiple news outlets.
The fatal accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, August 9, at approximately 2:15 a.m., at the intersection of Padre Boulevard and Morningside Street. A golf cart carrying six people collided with a Chevrolet truck. The truck was driven by David Rivera, 60, who was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
One of the occupants of the golf cart, 34-year-old Kaylinn Churchill of Fort Worth, was transported to the hospital but later succumbed to her injuries. The other five individuals involved were hospitalized but have since been released.
Rivera now faces multiple charges: one count of intoxication manslaughter for the death of Churchill, and six counts of intoxication assault related to the injuries sustained by the other occupants. His bond was set at $180,000.
