Baytown man drowns on SPI

emergency-lightsThe South Padre Island Constable’s Office released the name of the drowning victim on Tuesday, May 31.

Billie Joe Crow, Jr., 55, was pulled from the water at beach access five on Sunday, May 29. in the afternoon by an unnamed good Samaritan.

The Baytown, Texas resident was administered Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by Deputy Constable Julio Silva who responded to a call about a swimmer in distress. He, along with some beach onlookers, attempted to resuscitate the man until Emergency Medical Services arrived.

The official report said Crow was transported to the South Padre Island Fire Station where he was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Benny Ochoa.
