Mayor: Not planning to annex Laguna Heights

Contrary to previous re­ports by other local news­papers, Port Isabel is not at this time seeking to an­nex Laguna Heights.

Port Isabel is, however, engaged in working with Laguna Vista to deter­mine city limits.

“We’re still working with Laguna Vista in de­termining city boundar­ies,” Port Isabel Mayor Joe Vega said. “A few years back we encroached on Laguna Vista’s extra territorial jurisdiction, so they brought it to our at­tention that there were some areas they had an­nexed before Port Isabel did.”
