The City Commissioners and Mayor of South Padre Island unanimously voted yesterday, Aug. 31 to raise property taxes, but taxpayers should not see any significant changes to their net payments.
Taxable value last year was $2,510,996,414; however, this year the adjustable taxable value went down to $2,464,506,712. This, according to Beth Free, would have rendered the city $114,183 short of revenue compared to the previous year.
