Special to the Parade
The Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce is preparing for the 17th Annual Mid-Valley Lighted Christmas Parade, set to be held on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. on Texas Boulevard in Weslaco.
The theme, A Red, White & Blue Christmas, has special meaning for this year’s parade; it lands on the 10th anniversary year of 9/11. The parade will also be honoring Weslaco’s fallen soldiers. Sponsored this year by J-III Concrete, the Mid-Valley Lighted Parade features decorated floats, marching bands, classic cars, and more, all decked out in lights and holiday décor.
Application entries for the parade are available at the Weslaco Chamber office, 255 S. Texas, Weslaco or online at www.weslaco.com. Entry deadline is Thursday, Dec. 1, at the chamber office. Entries for the Lighted Home Contest must be turned in by Monday, Dec. 12. For more information about both events, call (956) 968-2102.
