A lifetime of hard work, dedication and passion came into fruition Wednesday as Tarpon senior athletic standout Armando Fierro signed his letter of intent to attend West Alabama University this fall. The singing took place at the new Port Isabel High School Gym before a crowd of teammates, friends, family and administrators. The cross country standout has garnered all-district, regional and state honors during his high school career.

Fierro cites his parents and especially his father as influences, adding that at the age of four, his father enrolled him in the local youth baseball league, a move that fostered his passion for sports. Later in junior high, he participated in football. In high school, Fierro was a standout in cross country, track and baseball.
