The Port Isabel Tarpons made the long road trip up the Valley to Zapata Friday night and got the win against the Hawks, 60-47, in the next-to-last district game of the season. They have clinched a playoff berth and at least a second-place tie in the District 32-3A standings, which will become final after Tuesday night’s game with La Feria. It will be Parents’ Night.
It’s the first time in nine seasons that a Tarpons hoops squad has made the playoffs. Port Isabel’s first-round opponent will come from District 31-3A and will be either Orange Grove or Corpus Christi Miller.
