Most people see a dead or dying tree, momentarily feel saddened by the loss of life, and then go about their business.
But when woodcarver Chris Hawley recently passed by a dead tree in the Port Isabel Lighthouse Square, he saw an opportunity to make the world a little more beautiful.
“The dead tree at Lighthouse Square caught my eye a couple of years ago,” Hawley said. “Its size and location made it appealing.”
