Silver Tarpon Band Ready for Competition

After having to withdraw from last week’s marching contest at Rio Hondo the Port Isabel High Silver Tarpon Marching Band is ready for their first competition of the 2016 marching season.

This Saturday (Oct. 8) the band is off to Mercedes for the Queen City Marching Contest, and all is in readiness after rain washed out several practices last week and forced the band to stay home from the “Deep River” contest at Rio Hondo.

“Rain created lots of problems, electronics for one,” P.I. head director of bands, Scott Hartsfield said Monday.  “We needed to balance out stuff and we couldn’t do it outside.”
