Marlyn Cesenes and Madison Ramos each won gold in their events at the Tarpon Relays track and field meet at Tarpon Stadium last Friday.
Cesenes’ best height of 9-feet, 6-inches was well short of her first-place performance at the previous week’s Hog Relays in Pharr, but was a foot-and-a-half better than the second-place finisher on this day.
Ramos cleared five feet even to win the gold medal in the high jump and that was a new personal best. Allyson Reyes finished fourth with a leap of 4-feet, 8-inches.
“It felt great to get a new PR,” Ramos said afterwards. Ramos also ran the 300-meter hurdles and was 7th in 55.74 seconds.
The girls did not run the sprint relay race but Lady Tarpon foursomes placed fourth and second in the 4 x 200 and 4 x 400-meter relays.
