Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño, Jr., has ordered the closure of Cameron County’s parks and beach accesses and has issued a curfew for 12 days, starting Tuesday.

The orders, issued on June 29, will run from June 30 to July 13. The county’s beach parks and accesses will close at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

“The closure of the parks and beach accesses are being undertaken out of an abundance of caution for the protection of public safety due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19),” Treviño said in a press release announcing the closures.

Vehicular traffic to the county beach parks and beach accesses on South Padre Island is not allowed, but  people can still walk along and sit on the beach.

City beach accesses along Gulf Boulevard are still open to the public.

A full list of the parks and accesses closed can be found here.

For anyone 17 and under, the curfew is in place between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. For those 18 and older, the curfew runs from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

As of today, Port Isabel has 22 confirmed COVID-19 cases, Laguna Vista has 3, and South Padre Island has 7.

In total, Cameron County has 2,296 cases of COVID-19, with 1,466 recovering from the disease. Fifty-five people have died from COVID-19 in Cameron County.

This is an absolutely stupid decision that only serves the purposes of the far left democrats and their deep state swamp allies. Increases in cases in Texas is fueled by the massive increase in testing. The testing itself is coming up with many false determinations and much manipulation is being done at the hospital to pad the numbers and severity of cases. They decide who to admit to ICUs, and no one my wife and I know nor anyone we know is personally aware of severe illnesses or deaths. Where is the photo or admission evidence. Where are the bodies stacking up of the supposed victims of the worst epidemic/pandemic in several lifetimes? I have seen new graphs of general great increases in cases due to massive increases in testing, but a lowering of the curve of deaths.
Check out the charts at this link:

You sir are absolutely correct!! This is absurd to shut down the county beach access points! This whole “pandemic/epidemic” whatever you want to call it is very political. I am in the Houston area and was looking forward to a 4th of July vacation in South Padre and then this!? I also do not know of ANYONE who has contracted the virus let alone been put in the hospital. This will carry on close to the if not until election time and then will all magically fizzle away and become just a normal flu/cold season. People need to start thinking for themselves instead of letting the media do the talking and thinking. Our so-called officials need to stop and take a step back and maybe visit some of these “hospitals” in person where the cases are said to be spiking and ICU beds apparently being used up. Notice how this time around we haven’t heard reports of a lack of ventilators?!? Hmmmm….pretty sus if you ask me. But hey, ask yourself these questions

I work at these hospitals, come if you dare. It’s funny how people who are affect with this virus don’t have time to complain about petty things like not going to the beach. Go to another beach.

Just about anyone that goes to ER for any reason is labeled as covid. People are not breathing proper oxygen, especially. when wearing mask at work all day or worse they have an outside in element job. 4 year old children passing out at gym Class cuz they cant breath. These are some of the reasons why peeps end up in ER. Then you have doctors who are trying different methods to “cure” covid. Many nurses are inexperienced and overworked- that also contributes to patients coding left and right. I am grateful for health professionals but these are some of the reasons more peeps in hospitals. Tests are inaccurate or even come back as false positives. The end goal for the criminal corrupted medical big pharma is to control and even depopulate. Do your research, Bill Gates says it out in the open- pay attention to his words. Gates wants the whole world vaccinated. No thanks, God gave me an immune system.

This virus has nothing on the coming injuries and deaths by way of vaccine. Bill gates says it openly. This past monday, gates said it is going to get worse in the fall. ( dont know how these people know everything months in advance) oh wait, it’s all pre-planned

Are people allowed to go to other points of beach access?

Will condo owners/managers be required to reimburse travelers if they cancel due to the closure?

It’s only the COUNTY beach accesses that are closed. All 24 or so CITY beach accesses are open. I live here.

Ed, I work in the local hospital near spi, 1 hr away, we are saturated with icu covid pts, trust me when I say they are true icu status. No doctor manipulation, that’s ridiculous. If we can downgrade these pts and get em out of our er we do. Please don’t spread assumptions and spread word on mouth. Just because you think it doesn’t make it reality. Stop selfishness and think about others greater good. A missed vacation isn’t the end of the world.

For those that think this pandemic isn’t real, because you don’t know someone personally who has contracted the virus, consider yourself extremely lucky! I personally know of 9 people who have it or are in the hospital because of it. Just because it inconveniences you, doesn’t mean it isn’t real or political. Sometimes bad things happen and we, collectively as humans, should practice more compassion and understanding, rather than automatically thinking it’s a reason to gripe and complain. Especially, if people are still dying and getting sick out here.

yeah yeah yeah, blame the Dems but the real truth is Republican Governor Greg Abbott is at fault for listening to all the dummies that wanted to hurry and open Texas. He is responsible for the state of Texas…remember him in 2 years when he wants to be reelected!!!!!

I can’t believe people is complaining about closures showing a tremendous amount of selfishness, when they are others like Doctors,Nurses, all types of first responders putting themselves at risk so they can save the lives of others, stop complaining and consider the excellent work others are doing, you won’t die if you cancel your vacation.

Nurse or other medical personnel: People we know that are admitted for other conditions are tested more than once and have been labelled as Covid related. Are most of those admitted and subsequently admitted to ICU on respirators/ventilators with pneumonia or heart related conditions? Are there still heart attack, stroke, drug ods, diabetes-related attacks, maybe even things like strep, flu, etc.? Many wonder if the incidences of all these conditions as well as the just starting effects of people not doing their cancer treatments, blood pressure, blood sugar treatments because they have been afraid of getting near hospitals & even the the stoppage of ‘non-essential’ surgeries that were really somewhat essential , one simple would be forgoing hip or knee or back replacement/surgeries and paying the price with falls, or heart attacks/strokes from not-able-to-be-diagnosed contributing factors. The positives are rising because of increased testing- an obvious result. The mortality rate is leveling off or dropping, not rising like the positive case tabulation. Check out the charts & curves from John Hopkins, CDC, etc. I am not unsympathetic, but I also feel for people dying of cancer, heart attacks, strokes, accidents, murder, suicide, being struck by lightening. Depending on how you look at the figures one has somewhere between : “estimate that in many countries some 5 to 10 people will die for every 1,000 people with COVID-19. “The studies I have any faith in are tending to converge around 0.5–1%,” says Russell.” Covid-19 isn’t even in the top 5-8 causes of death in the US. Of course we pray for these victims but I will not live in a bubble, no matter what any county judge or state governor dictates. Check out the figures at this updated July 1, 2020 CDC website: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid19/index.htm . In a nutshell 112,226 deaths of Covid-19, & 1,276,875 deaths by other causes in the same period. Some additional deaths were listed with pneumonia as the cause with or without Covid…. Please tell me where I am wrong- facts & figures or video proofs?
