Sea Turtle Inc. recently revealed their plans for facility expansion at their annual fund raiser on Saturday, Sept. 3, and with the expansion of room, the staff and volunteers hope to bring an expansion of knowledge to the public.
They recently purchased the block of land between the existing facility of Sea Turtle Inc. and the Birding and Nature Center on the north end of the Island. With this track, staff has many ideas to delight the young and seasoned visitors.
“The new property would be an educational component to our facility. What we have right now when you walk into Sea Turtle Inc. would be focused more towards rehab,” said Sea Turtle Inc. Curator Jeff George. “There will be aquarium tanks, natural history displays, classrooms, conference rooms and a large gift shop.”
In addition to the educational facilities, they intend to tear down their old amphitheatre and build a completely new one, capable to hold a larger capacity of people as well as more room to work for the staff and volunteers.
